I've came across lots of M&W products over the years but know little about the company other than it originated here in Iowa. One major product was thier piston sets. What made them better than stock? Forged vs. cast? Boost compression? Can you still get them, or rings and sleeves to fit?

Back in the 50's they were the ones to go to for over bore with a domed piston for higher compression.

They still exist (but do not make engine parts, or sell any) If googled, you will find their product line. JimN

Doug as i remeber M&W Gear co was started in Anchor Ill. by Elmo Mininders i meet him at a show in iowa in about 1976 he was a farmer and inventer. I was a M&W dealer for about 30 years Elmo was the guy that came out with m&w nine speed trans for IH tractors live pto ,live hyd, pistons kits for many other brands the first header control for cutting beans and many other things in the industry.the co was sold to the Alamo Group after Elmo died they still make some of the things from the old co but not much Kent

Kent, I attended a benefit for my brother today. My cousin was there. He was from Anchor, IL. He is 83. I asked him about Elmo. He said they had a all school reunion a few weeks ago. Elmo was there with his private nurse. Elmo lives in assisted living. He was the 2nd oldest there at 94. Isn't it amazing his name came up today.I worked for M&W in Gibson City IL. We built turbo kits in the expermental dept. ELMO kept IHC in competition . He was a true entrepreneur. Good man.
