i read the other post and i did all it said. i came to the conclusion that when the gas goes into the carb it doesnt transfer from there to the cylinder. i can spray carb cleaner in the spark hole or the intake and it turns over but it then stops when it has burned all of it up. any help on this would be great.

Do the valves open and close OK?? If you're not yet sure of the carb, try removing the float bowl, is there anything in there???

Lanse - he said into the intake so presumably valve gear is OK.

Could be a blocked carb or could be an air leak into the inlet manifold. Is the choke working correctly?

The plugs should be wet after cranking and not starting. If they are dry start working back towards the carb.

Regards, RAB

Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor and see if there's good good suction on your hand.
You need good intake manifold vacuum to suck that fuel into the engine. It may even start when doing this. We used this procedure when cars and trucks had mechanical fuel fuel pumps to see if the pump was defective. Hal

Don't know about that specific model, but we had an older JD that wouldn't provide fuel to the carb unless there was vacuum applied to the fuel valve in the fuel line from the tank or oil pressure to the valve or some such crazy thing.
