When can I get these things out of my garage and into the coop? These things are 26 days old and the weather up here is into the 70"s during the day and maybe in the 40"s at night. Will they be o.k. through the night without any heat lamp at this stage? The coop is to far from the house to run electric to.

They need to be fully feathered to be on the safe side.

What if Doug's wife dislikes the escaping chickens that are leaving droppings all over the garage?

I've got over 80K chicks and I keep them above 70 deg until they are over 7 weeks. You don't want them to get chilled. I wouldn't want them in anything cooler than 60 deg until they are grown.

Thats what big boxes are for. BTDT many times. Or of course you could brake down and buy a couple extension cords and get power to the chicken house and put in one heat lamp. Even if you have to run a cord 200 or300 feet the line loss will not be all that much
