Neighbor, Dads's best friend, was there in late '44 for Operation Market Garden. The British General in charge was Bernard Montgomery who should have been lined up in front of a firing squad of American airborne units. He had them massacred while he deliberately let them to the fighting and dyeing, hopelessly out numbered by German SS units. Very poorly planned. Those guys hated that SOB to his grave.
