JD 6420 pressure in the engine oil

I have a John Deere 6420 with roughly 4700 hours and there is pressure in the engine oil, whenever I start the tractor oil pushes the dipstick up and sprays everywhere, i took out the fill cap and ziptied plastic wrap with a hole in the middle in it's place, that solved the problem. I want to know why there is pressure in the engine oil and how I can fix it, any help is well appreciated.

There should be no pressure in the oil pan/crankcase. A real wild guess: because it is a turbocharged tractor, a hole in a piston could cause dramatic crankcase pressure. Is it running correctly, or missing on one cylinder? Jim

It doesn't sound like it's missing at all, it's a really smooth running tractor now and it doesn't smoke either

Dont know where engine crankcase is ventilated but an internal oil baffle may have come loose or brokeen in the engine.

There's at least 3 engines used in 6420's, I looked at the parts catalog and all 3 I saw had a pretty good sized breather hose attached to the valve cover and hanging down below the engine.

Find that hose and see if it has somehow gotten pinched closed, blocking the flow from the crankcase.

If it ISN'T restricted you have MASSIVE blowby that is greater than what the vent tube can handle.

Pull off the oil cap and start it. Put your hand above the
opening. If there are strong pulses of vapor pushing
out you have problems with a cylinder with scored
walls, broken rings or a cracked or broken piston.
