Advise splitting a tractor

I posted a message about the clutch on my 445 Moline awhile back. I'm going to split it and replace the clutch. I'm looking for
some advise on how to do it safely. I did it some years ago, but then I had an overhead chain fall on a trolly to do it. Now I just
have a good concrete slab to do it on and I'm looking for suggestions. Thanks for any help.

The heavy part is the engine side. I put that on concrete blocks. The rear end I put on a furniture dollie. When the bolts were removed it just rolled away from the engine.

With a cement slab it is easier than on a plywood with dirt. You will want some stands that are substantial enough to hold the half they bolt to. Then it is your choice wheter you roll which half away. With small rollers under an engine the rear half would roll easier.

As others are saying put wedges in between the axle pivot stops and the front frame so that it can't flop over on you then securely block under the front. You can then support the rear on a dolly or floor jack and roll it back the rear rolls more easily because of the larger tires and because you have leverage when pushing on the tires. To make it safer you can take a heavy trailer jack and bolt it rigidly onto the side of the rear housing or transmission through a short length of heavy angle stock.

my brother built a splitting stand. 6 inch long 2.5 or 2.25 inch tubbing with flat iron welded to the side. slots in the flat iron so you can bolt it to the tractor frame. One on each side. then a long tubing that could reach the floor went through that tubing. he welded nuts on the side and threaded rod to adjust it. that way you could tighten each side up for exact pressure. always bolted to the front part of tractor. then a floor jack under the back end front and back and floor jack could roll to roll the back end away. I wish I had a pic of it as it split many a tractor and was used through out the neighborhood.
