I read there were a lot of M-M RTU cab tractors that were used to do that very thing including a few
that were built specifically for mail delivery. They had racks to put packages and stuff on. I think only
one left in existence and its a reproduction or clone.

Obviously people didn't get as much mail as now or he would have been pulling a trailer.
