I think someone warned me but I couldn't imagine it being that noisy. I don't know if it's bearings, belts or just the nature of the beast. Does anyone that ran one have an opinion?

its most likely the spindle brgs are dry and they make a heck of a growling. thats where the blades are attached to.

Yes, a 3 blade finish mower. Figured it would be quieter than my rider but it's NOT! Lol..at least it cuts wider.

my sorry excuse for a mower 6 ft king cutter starts growling its a
rough bearing in spindle or the idlers. dang thing got like 6 idlers
and they were very light duty. at a farm machinery dealer i found
same size idlers but with double the size bearings and life is longer

As they said, check the spindle bearings
and idlers. Those decks are fairly quiet
when everything is up to snuff. Any noise
or roughness when turning by hand is
greatly amplified when under power. Looks
like a Woods? If so the spindle bearings
are a very common tapered roller type and
not all that expensive if you shop around.

Gp'
This 6 ft woods mower isn't loud.

Both mowers have sharp blades, greased, and ready to mow..

I cut my lawn with a 1966 IH Cub Loboy for about 3 years. If you can figure out a pattern that works around your lack of maneuverability, lack of live PTO, lack of power (or easy) steering, lack of brakes, etc. it's not so bad, but I could get the job done just as quickly, with a lot less weed-whacking with a much smaller riding mower.

(quoted from post at 06:31:03 04/12/23) Is there a way to raise and lower that mower?
Not really. It has spacers to change mower height. I don't think it would take much to modify it. I mainly keep my grass knocked down for fire danger. I will still use my rider and push mower.
