Aluminum Radiators

Has anyone tried the all-aluminum welded radiators that are
offered for some tractors? Any opinions? Thanks!
 
VW and many Auto companies have used Aluminum and Aluminum/plastic compound for years. Successful and reliable. I have built custom Automobiles with them and no problem. Using coolant that is designed for multiple metal systems is required. Jim
 
I have run aluminum radiators for years with no problems,(over 20), as stated use the proper anti-freeze for best results.
 
I wouldn't want one. I saw plenty of those cheap junk things as OEM on Freightliner trucks setting in the parking lots of truck stops where they blew out seams broke or whatever happened to them over night.With antifreeze all over the parking lot. I'll keep my copper radiators. Questions drive through the local truck stops a few times will probably see one or more.
 

There are millions of vehicles of every type running 100% aluminum and aluminium and plastic radiators in service.

With no replacements made with a micro ounce of any other metal.
 
They have to be better than the plastic tank radiators. The rubber gasket shrinks in them and they leak. I have re clamped them with a vice grip and you get some more years out of them. In fact a factory ford truck manual tells you how to do it.
 
I have stack of all aluminium rads that came off Lexus vehicles I can smell them leaking a mile away : ). Plastic tank rads get a bad rap for the money they are great most live a long life.

I don't see the advantage in going all aluminium. For the price of one I can buy 2,3,4 plastic tank rads and they would last as long as an all aluminium radiator. If either leak you are going to have to replace it, gimme the plastic tank rad.
 
I have had more aluminum Air Conditioning evaporators leak beyond repair that I can;t count them....both automotive and central air. One spanking new right out of the box!
