In HS I was an FFA member.
On lake Eustis I saw many young FFA boys with their dads Bass Fishing; (FFA) Future Fisherman of America. This weekend is a bass tournament at Eustis..
Around Eufaula Al, I think they even close schools for kids to attend Bass Tournaments..
Now we have 2 FFA clubs. Are you a member of either FFA?
There is a shortage of lead sinkers.lol

I was an ffa member and my 2 oldest are members, the oldest received the Hoosier FFA degree last summer. She got accepted to Purdue and a nice scholarship to boot starting this fall. She turns 18 today!

Unfortunate for me in the small community where I grew up there was no FFA but I was fortunate enough to be in 4H, Scouting and other Faith Based youth groups. All were of great benefit to me in shaping my character and I have volunteered to help FFA members with old tractor electricals. I support such groups as FFA 4H and Scouting. Anytime I've interacted with those members Ive been impressed with their maturity, respect and kindness, nice young folks indeed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes to all

I was a 4 year member of the FFA and am still an alumni member. The Alumni sponser an annual dance around St Valentine's Day day that hasn't happened for the last few years because of ''you know what''. I was the class sentinal as a freshman and then the treasurer as a sophmore. When we started as sophmores I talked the Ag teacher into having the classes build a hot dog stand to be used at the football games. He showed up with his car and a trailer load of lumber the next day and we spent our classroom time doing ''woodwork''. (;>)) That hotdog stand grew into hamburgers, coffee, soda pop and just about anything else that would sell on a cold autumn night. It turned out to be a real moneymaker that helped fund many ag class trips. I was the chapter president in my senior year and still have my FFA jacket and if I lost about 10 pounds it would fit.

FFA 4 years, Chapter Pres. Jr. and Sr. year. Both my son and daughter were in FFA. My Dad taught Vo. Ag. 33 years. Much more to it than how to grow corn or slop the hogs.

(;>)) I was just guessing about the 10 pounds although I weighed 170 at the time and weigh 185 now. I guess I'll just have to try it on one of these days. (;>))

I am a teacher of FFA.
First to my sons and now to my grandsons.
My grandsons seem to like it much more than my sons did.

I don't know if the high school even has the FFA class anymore you guys are talking about.

I took Voc Ag and was in FFA all four years of high school.

I can't apply this to everyone, as some of my classmates became successful farmers, but in my case I would have been far better off had I taken business and college prep classes instead.

I was in FFA in high school. Never was an officer but was on both state winning poultry and dairy products judging teams and was fortunate enough to judge in national contests in Kansas City and Waterloo, Iowa. Still have the medals I won in the national contests. Also still have my jacket which I cannot come close to getting into/.

Yes they have FFA chapters and they are more popular than when I was in HS. Girls sign up for the classes also.

This year is very unusual.
I estimate there were 25 bass boats to every local guy fishing
for crappie.
Makes me think the state of the economy for elderly people is
worse than you think or Old people can't fish anymore because of
age and health. A lady across the street from my sister likes to
fish. She can't fish until her shoulder replacement heals. 4
other people moved. One died.

My sister only fishes when I'm there. She has a boat and doesn't
know how to troll and fish.

I think it is very cool to see fathers fishing with their sons.

I think both FFAs should be required classes, even for girls.

Teach someone how to fish and you will find him in a boat
drinking beer. lol
