Battery Warranty

I bought a lawn and garden battery at Wal-Mart in June and it went bad July. It went bad in July. I took it back for a replacement and the price had increased by $5. Was I ripped off? It seems like it, but I suppose that is the way the warranty works. I guess the only gripe I have is that $5 is too much increase in 30 days for a $29.97 battery.

The one you bought in June was probably in stock and had been brought on a truck when diesel fuel was around $3. The replacement that you got in July was brought on the truck that came when fuel was over $6 - to replace the one that you took off the shelf in June.

At least, that is my theory. Energy costs affect every aspect of our lives.

I never heard of a warranty like that. If battery went bad that fast you should have been given a new battery at no extra cost. Most battery warranties are pro rated so if bad in one year on a three year warrenty you get a 2/3 price reduction but less than 90 days that battery was bad when made and you should not have any extra cost. Monlite37,

Does you paper work have a warranty clause? For that short time it should not have been ANY charged.

Next time you go, ask to see the manager, bet you you will get the$5 back,

Guido.

I would have asked for the manager and would have raised so much he&& they would have forgot the five bucks just to get rid of me.

As far as the price increase, nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to that.

90 day free replacement Warrenty I believe. Id go back and get my $5 back. Actually I would never have given it in the first place Im a stubborn old coot though.

Sounds like you let them give you a refund so you could buy another battery.

What SHOULD have happened is, you should have simply exchanged the new battery for the old one. If they give you any trouble over that, stand your ground.

I have fought that battle before. Had to get the manager. But they gave in. Im sure the warranty does not have an inflation clause.

Two weeks ago I bought 5lbs potatos from local grocery store for $2.99 Yester same bag was $4.99. Putin must have flown in over the WE and raised prices. LOL
