Carb cutting out

On my Farmall H I converted 6 to 12 volt last fall. Ran smooth. This Spring when I go to start it it gets spark and fires 3-4 times then dies. I have inspected the carb, and I think it is the main jet?

It also drips gas out the bottom after I crank a few times. Air leak, sticking float? Frustrating because I have spark, it will just not sustain.what to check?

Have spark but is it a good blue/white that jumps a 1/4 inch gap?? If you have a carb dripping gas you could also have gas fouled plugs and if you do it will not run and might fire once in a while but that is it

I would revisit the ignition.

Could be the points, out of adjustment, burned, something loose, bad
condenser.

Assuming it is battery ignition, could also be the ignition switch making intermittent contact.

A test light will be helpful.

Connect it to the ignition side of the coil, it should always be on when the
switch is on. Try wiggling the switch, see if the light flickers or goes off.

Connect it to the distributor side of the coil, it should flash when
cranking. On when the points are open, off when the points close. If it's
always on, the points are not making contact. Always off, the points are
closed, or the coil is losing power from the switch.

The ultimate test though is spark at the plug end of each plug wire. Should
get a 1/4 inch spark to ground at each wire.

As for the carb dripping after a failed start, that is normal, it's gas draining back down out of the manifold. A true flooding carb will drip, and continue to drip any time the fuel valve is open. It will also run rich, black smoke, load up and die at idle.

But there could be a fuel contamination problem. Get a clean glass, remove
the drain plug from the carb bowl, catch the gas in the glass, see what you
get. Look for water or trash in the bottom of the glass. If there is water,
the tank is contaminated and needs to be removed and cleaned out.

i replaced fuel line, valve, filter. I will check spark on pulled plug. Also clean all electrical contacts on ignition. It is kept outside all winter which is hard on it.

The gas dripping is because you crank it but it doesn't start. All the old Farmalls will do that if they don't start. I agree with everyone else - start with the ignition. When you did the conversion do you
have a battery ignition and if so did you either put in a resistor or change the coil to a 12 volt that doesn't require a resistor? If not then it will fry the points in a short time.

You may be thinking about a resistor. You have one
unless you installed an electronic ignition in your
tractor. It is the thing in the distributor with the wire
coming out that connects to the points terminal. It is
about a 5/8 in. diameter and an inch and a quarter
long. Did the fuel flow out of the carb well as checked
by Steves suggestion? In case you do not know there
is a fine screen that can plug in the fitting that screws
in the carb where the fuel line attaches.

Have you confirmed (using a spark tester) whether or not the engine has a constant HOT spark when cranking?

UPDATE

Replaced points and condenser. Carefully set gap. Same situation. Engine will fire for about 6-10 fires then die. I think the problem is in CARBURETOR??? There is a primary and secondary jet or port, right? I think the secondary is okay but the PRiMARY is not pulling fuel? Meanwhile after I crank a bit and remove the screw ab bottom of carburetor inlet throat is drains gas

What to do? Maybe apply some compressed air to inlet screws? I have already tore carb apart, checked seals, float, valve, etc?

Who know how and where to check the PRIMARY inlet channel?

Thanks,

Andy
