Another new scam

Ordered a book the other day never came but the post office shows it was delivered well it wasnt now neither eBay or PayPal will do anything with it

Possible it was delivered to the wrong mail box. It happened to my sister. The post master figured out whose box her package was in and got it back.

I ordered printer ink off ebay. After a week I asked the seller for a tracking number. They sent me a fedex number showing several time stamps and being delivered to my address in Connecticut. I live in Nebraska. Ebay asked the seller for proof they purchased shipping. They never replied and I got a refund. I got lucky they used the wrong state. Several people didn't get a refund because of the fake tracking numbers.

I don't see how they can create a fake tracking number and make it appear it through the Fedex system.

Most of the scammers on ebay will hack someones account that has not been active in over a year and start selling. Anymore I check their feedback. If it has not had any recent feedback I don't buy from them.

SV. My wife and I are dealing with the same issue something my wife ordered from Amazon but paper trail shows USPS dropped the ball. Their supervisor told me to take up with Amazon. Like a $57 item but still thats a lot of money to us anyway. Also this supervisor advised my that the postal backlog will start as soon as next week. She said its coming and prepare accordingly. Especially with the upcoming holidays. Wingnut

I bet eBay will make it good but I think they made me wait for awhile. I had a starter that was lost for 3 months. EBay had already refunded my money. A neighbor found it at a abandoned garage. The box was trash but the starter was wrapped in plastic. so it was still good! I tried to refund ebay, but couldn't get thru to them. I finally sent the money to the seller who probably got the insurance plus my money!!!

I ordered a timing kit off ebay shipped Fedex, It showed delivered but I was home when they said it was dropped off, so I know it wasn't delivered here. I had to keep at it for about two weeks before they refunded me. They kept trying to say it was delivered so no refund. I had to explain where I lived and I was home finally got my refund and you know the reason they put down? Stolen after delivery. I ordered again from another supplier. This time it's coming UPS.

I tried calling Fedex but can never get to a person it's all robo.

Getting and paying for signature required delivery solves all these problems.
Most everyone including UPS and FedEx has gone to no signature required to cut cost.
Problem is most shop cost and expect high dollar service.

Another option is to buy the item local and let them order it in.
USPS UPS and FedEx never dump their deliveries on the curb so they get the item.
But again this requires shopping service rather than cost.

I ordered an air filter for a 3.5 hp briggs from AMAZON. 2 days later it was delivered.. Too big. Wrong one. It said it was for a 3.5 hp briggs. I sent a reply to Amazon. They gave me a refund without me returning it. I ordered one today from another person. Suppose to have a different filter on Monday. No problem.

One time my sister sent me a birthday gift from Amazon. She lives in Florida. She sent it to the wrong address, her mistake. Amazon said it was delivered to an address that doesn't exist. Sister contacted Amazon. She even said it was her mistake. No problem, Amazon gave her a refund and sent another gift to the right address.

You may not like Amazon. I do.

Only order off Ebay only when I can't buy it from Amazon, and have to wait on a slow boat from China to deliver it and wait for boat to get unloaded. Been in your mess with Ebay and lost money.

Good Luck.

I'm accused of being cheap. Fake news. Ebay may be a little cheaper. I prefer Amazon because of return policy too. No hassle. Amazon pays return shipping 99% of the time.

It's almost impossible to collect insurance from USPS any more. I have a package I ordered on Jan 27th. That was just delivered last week. I reported it to USPS and they told me sorry they lost it. I should contact the seller for a refund.

USPS has a special form they will give you: The form is called PayPal Non Delivery Scam. Fill it out by e-mail and you'll get action. I think you have to go to the post office to get the form.

I normally check feedback Ive been burnt one other time for 700.00$ dollars . This one says it shows delivered to my address and given to a person but no person ever got it . It wasnt of money thankfully . Ive bought thousands of dollars of stuff on eBay and only been burnt twice still makes me mad they just accept that it was delivered but it wasnt

I bought a series of books from Amazon with a three week delivery date, after 5 weeks I had a talk with Amazon(live text) and they sent them again. Two weeks later I called again and they sent me my money and said to keep them if they showed up.The money did, the books no.

57 dollars Is a of money to me to. There are some scam book sellers on eBay been scammed a few times and usually its such a small amount its not worth the hassle guess they figure on that

I wont post the reason I dont deal with Amazon Ive had pretty good luck with eBay but I have been burned

There are no book stores anymore thanks To Amazon . The closest place that sometimes has these books is a 200 mile round trip

Geo,

I'm with you 100%. A few years ago I ordered a moisture meter for checking hay moisture before baling. The vendor was actually in China but the order was processed by Amazon. The meter was defective out of the box. After a number of frustrating and irritating e-mails with the Chinese company, I actually received an email from Amazon asking me to return the product to one of their locations. They sent me a pre-paid label for use at UPS and within a couple of days, I received a credit in my bank account for the original amount of the transaction.

I like Amazon.

Not much you can do to prove it wasn't delivered.

Good chance they delivered it to the wrong address, or someone picked it up.

Did you try opening a case with Ebay? That is about your only recourse. Unfortunately that will put the seller in position to loose his money but you will get yours back, maybe...

I've had this happen. I think the delivery person will do this when they get behind some days. Give it another day or two. It may still show up.

Any chance you could translate that into American English?

Can't remember who I ordered a break away switch from. I got an email saying it was delivered by USPS on Saturday. I was working outside helping a neighbor the time the mailman delivered the mail. I didn't get the switch. I went to the post office on Monday and asked, where's my package??
The girl at post office said yes it was delivered, check your neighbor's mailbox.
Sure enough, she was right, it was delivered to my neighbor's mailbox.

Another time I got a package from Amazon in my mailbox. I opened it and said to myself, I didn't order this! It belonged to my neighbor. Same neighbor that was delivered my switch.

So,I don't think it a scam, I don't think it's ebay's fault, or Amazon's fault, I think it's a human's fault.

My house number is 3304, neighbor's is 3303.

PayPal - I no longer use them. If there is an issue with something good luck trying to talk with a real live human that lives in the western hemisphere. No customer service. After three months of trying to get almost $350 back on items that were returned and had tracking info and and screen shots from the vendors website showing the status I filed a complaint with my state attorney general. Six weeks later I finally received my money.

I only use y credit card, if there is an issue I can call them and we can discuss it.

Last Saturday I got an email from Amazon saying that my order of item X had been delivered by USPS on Friday. It hadn't been but the the tracking on X definitely showed that it had been delivered, even had the time; 1:05 PM.

A package with item X was delivered Monday afternoon at 5:35; by UPS!

When Borders closed down that was the end of my going to the big city with my wife. I could go to Borders and spend hours looking at books and music while she was off looking at shoes and clothes . Always spent waaaay more than I should have, but came home with things I never would have otherwise even known existed. The magazine racks alone had specialty mags I'd never even heard of. A sad, sad day for me.

I think I've ordered twice from Amazon. In each case it was the ONLY place I could find the items. What I use Amazon for is to get stock numbers, then I search Ebay and usually find what I want for less. Yes, you have to watch feedback and where the seller is located on Ebay, but I've not really been burnt. I paid for stuff and had the seller contact me and advise the part was lost or damaged, but I've never gotten scammed that I recall and I've been using them for over 20 years now.

I can guarantee you won't find parts for a Melroe Bobcat 444 on Amazon. You can on Ebay!

I've bought parts, manuals, etc off ebay for a long time never had anything but a couple slight problems that the seller fixed immediately. Also have never lost any money when using a credit card.

More than likely the book was delivered, but to the wrong address. There is such a rash of people stealing packages from doorsteps you can understand ebay not warrantying deliveries anymore.

Ask the post office for copy of the MDD GPS scan location for your package......

Carriers use a handheld Mobile Delivery Device (MDD) to scan and transmit package tracking data. MDDs use a cellular network and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to obtain real-time delivery tracking and location information

When a postal carrier scans a package as Delivered on the MMD device, the software also attaches the GPS coordinates of the location. If you didnt receive the package, you should call your local post office or submit a "Missing Mail" request as soon as possible to verify that it was actually delivered to your address and/or identify to which address it was delivered.
Missing mail form

The above is from usps inspector general website.

Geing scammed right now by a seller on FB Mkt Pl. Charged it to my Chase Amazon
card, it was linked and redirected to my old Paypal Account. Chase says it is
pending Canoot cancel until it is entered. Go figure.
Figure it won't be long until all internet sales will get hacked and scammed.

OK wore out try this.

Another option is to buy the item local and let them order it in.
USPS UPS and FedEx never dumps the deliveries (of local business) on the curb (because there is a counter person they can
hand it to;) so they (the business) gets the item.
But again this requires shopping service rather than cost.

A simple fact; If USPS UPS or FedEx has a no signature required delivery going to a house for something ordered off the
internet they are very likely to just dump it on the porch or in the yard and just leave.
This does not happen at a local business. The driver will walk into the business and hand the package to a live person.

Amazon and UPS take a picture of the package on my porch.
It shows up in the email that says the package was delivered.

Good idea.

I have a couple of 55 gallon trash barrels at the end of the driveway with lids. Got a HF farm jack and set of 4' bold clutters delivered and the UPS driver's statement was that he put them on top of the barrels. Well folks the delivery was on trash/garbage day and the UPS truck was the first one by. Guess what.....what any body hauling trash would do....if its in or on the cans it's trash.

I did get replacements free of charge...forget the details been 20 years or so. I don't know what UPS did with the driver....I would have sent him packing......

I would like to know how exactly this scam works. Who pays whom how much to "fake" the package running through their tracking system?

Never assume conspiracy when simple stupidity will explain things.

If it was shipped and the tracking number and address for the package is correct, I bet it will still be delivered.
Just because the usps system says it was delivered, it might be in the tomorrow pile in the post office.
Studies have found many delivered scans happening in the post office instead of when it leaves the mailmans possession.
