Rear inner tubes...Get what you pay for?

Need a tube. This one has too much rust imbedded, not going to re-use

Was going to ask if Firestone tubes were worth it...they seemed about double what no-name tubes cost. Don't mind paying the money if I get the value for it.

But found a site...Tires4That...link below...where I can get 15.5x38 Firestone tubes for $82...or 2 for $62 each if I buy 2. Free shipping.

Anybody know about these guys?

Got any suggestions/other ideas?

Thanks

Fred

Firestone tubes

The 550-043 tube at same store you have linked is 30% heavier than the one in your link.
Marketed as Farm Deluxe version.
But more money of course at $75.28ea if you buy two.

Firestone is made in USA,

Not all inner tubes by Firestone/Bridgestone.
They sell USA made and imported also.

firestone or good year is a good tube . plus dont get chinese tubes if u plan on using fluid. those tubes are 1/2 the thickness of the natural rubber ones. ask how i know that. 1/2 the thickness and half the money!

I'm getting so I hate using tubes for much of anything. Most seem to fail shortly after putting them in. Seams come apart or something all the time. Sad part is the tires get porous in a few years and have to use a tube or pump them up all the time. Not all that big on the us made thing with the help I see around most of the time either.

I would scrape the rust off with a knife and reuse it . Blow it up big and test for leaks. Either with soap or in a swimming pool. It's hard to hold it partly down in the pool but it will certainly show any leaks.

So After DoubleO7's comment, did some digging.

The tubes he pointed out are 3 lbs heavier, going to assume thicker rubber.

And Firestone does sell both USA made(the heavier ones) and imported...the pic is a cut and paste image from their catalog (linked below). My 15.5x38's are on the last row each section.

Probably going to order 2 of the heavy ones.

Firestone tube catalog

When you buy Firestone tubes, demand American made ones. When I bought one they tried to slip me a foreign made Firestone tube.

Hi Rust Red .... they may be half the thickness of some other tubes but I doubt whether anything available these days (and for countless years) is anything close to 'natural rubber' do you think?

No matter what brand you buy get one rated for radial tires
Radial tubes cost more but are twice as thick as bias tire tubes
I have tractors with radial and bias tires but they all have radial tubes, even on the fronts which are all bias.
Ask for a 15.5R38 tube
