Let me have your thoughts on this.

I have a customer that has one they have a horse barn they wheel the manure out to the spreader. They have a ramp built push the barrow up the ramp and dump into the spreader. They have 100 acers mostly pasture so use the spreader for this.

The spreader is worn out needs a boat load of work and parts do they try to repair are hunt up another worn out spreader.

I know nuttin about horses are a manure spreader. : )

Don't make their problem yours. If they have horses they have a dedicated expense and unless they are used in a successful riding stable,
or other income venture, those horses are not making money. Good used spreaders are rare because they are good. Bad used spreaders are
out there, but they have one. If you need the work, tolerate smelly jobs, and can make money at it, choose wisely. Jim

I see lots of old spreaders going thru auctions and being sold on Craig's list. A spreader is not a complicated machine. I have 3 working
spreaders, and each cost less than $1000. I prefer PTO spreaders...much more versatile. Check the gear box 1st. If it is shot...pass.
Wood is easy to repair or replace. Chains are simple, relatively cheap. If you can fix a tractor, you can sure fix a spreader. I would not go
for one of the monsters. A 100 bushel is all you need for a few horses.

This is an example of the kind of spreader that will do a good job, is easy to repair and small enough to be manuverable.

These 2 examples are close to me, fairly priced, good reliable models. Easy to move on a small flatbed trailer.
