JD-G stalls

Hi; I have a 1949 John Deere G s/n 36486. Finally got it running however after getting it to idle nicely it stalls out when the throttle is advanced. Any suggestions?

Could be weak spark, check the points gap and spark quality at the plug end of the wires to ground, should get 1/4 inch spark.

Or could be too lean. See if a partial choke helps. Could be the carb needs cleaning if it has been stored with gas in the bowl. Try opening the main jet some first.

Partial choke does seem to help when first started and getting it to idle. Haven't tried any adjustments on the jet.
