New to us 841. Seemed to have a miss. Just did compression check. Front to back.....0-120-105-120. maybe just a stuck valve on #1 ? I hope it's simple

Stuck valve is most likely but could be a hole in the piston also. Sticking rings will lower compression but not to zero. Or it could also be a blown head gasket

I do 2 things when a problem like this occurs. 1 I use a wall scanner and insert into spark plug hole. I can usually determine the condition of the piston and cylinder walls this way. A wall scanner is used by carpenters to check for wires or plumming in walls. 2 I make or buy a tool so I can blow compressed air into the cylinder. This will determine the condition of the valves. Rotate to tdc when both valves are closed. When adding the air it may spin the motor over to bdc, but that's ok. Just be careful when doing so. If air blows out exhaust, then exhaust valve is bad, if thru the carb, then intake is bad.

Hopefully a valve adjustment. A bore camera that uses a usb on phone or laptop is only about $20. Cheap and easy to use. I have one, it's about 15ft long. Think mine was 21. Camera end is about 1/4. I have used on cars and kitchen drain in the new house.

Why not convert it into a 3 cylinder? Close intake on #1, Could convert it into a 2 cylinder and make it into a JD.

I knew a college student that had crack in #1 cylinder. He converted old truck into a 5 cylinder. It ran.

Some cars today go from 6 to 4 cylinders. Don't even know it unless you look at display.

If the valve stem is rusty, why wouldn't the rest of the valve and seat be full of rust?

One time I had a valve seat fall out, zero compression.

I would do a leak down test first. You can tell if the air is coming out the intake, exhaust or piston.

Then pull the head and take a look see.
