This is what little I tried to put up this year

Not much there. That's too bad. Mine was half what it should be and second crop will be less. I'm just hoping I get enough so I don't have to buy any.

Down here (southern MN) is really, really nice first cutting, we can put it up dry! Been a lot of years since we could put up such nice dry hay.

But its bone dry, wont be a second cutting if it doesnt rain. I was just wondering how that sorts out at the hay sales, probably depressed market right now with an abundance of good quality hay; but man we could run out if it doesnt rain and be really high prices by next late winter.......

What is that contraption your pulling....looks like several sickle bar mowers hooked together somehow?

So your hay is around ten cents per lb. around me hay is priced out more often by the pound, because round bales can vary greatly in weight, because of size and density. Some bales will weight 600 lb while other weight can be 1000 lb. Hay local to me runs from 4-8 cents per pound depending on content and quality. Small square bales are just priced ridiculous $6-$8 per bale, and most bales wont weigh 50lb.So a 50 lb bale at $8 is 16 per lb. so that is $320 per ton for small square hay

I delivered some last night at $7.75/bale. Today I will be driving two hours round trip to donate some to a home for autistic people. Even at these high prices people are so happy to get it! I see prices topping $15.00 per bale this winter, even $20.00 is possible.

Billings, Mt
Anywhere from $6 to $12 or $15 for small squares.
Higher priced stuff is usually straight alfalfa.
I sell my grass with a touch of alfalfa for $6/small square, in the field.
60# bales, more or less.
I call it good horse hay.
My buyer is almost right behind the baler!!
I got a sneaking hunch he might sit on some of it and re-sell it
More power to him!! I don't have to worry about it!!!

I'm sure I could get more, but them I'm rid of it.
Yield is down here, too, even on the irrigated stuff.
