After getting home yesterday I spread fertilizer on the barley ground and harrowed it in. I put 17-17-17 on at 250#/ac.
This morning I sowed 150#/ac of Sterling barley (2row) and some triple mix hayseed under seeded. When we got out of dairy a couple years ago I sold the Big Jim roller we used to tow behind the drill. I wasnt going to buy another one for a few acres so I picked up a 1/2 bunk chain and hooked it to the drill plate linkage. It made the seed bed smooth as glass.
Hopefully we have enough barley to last for the feeder cattle before this is ripe early August but itll be close.
