I bought a brush hog and the PTO shaft is rusted and I'm trying to pry the end off of the gearbox shaft to take shaft off and repair problem. It is well rusted. I have a double spine PTO and was going to change my one end to replace rusted shaft, any suggestions, will be appreciated.

I tried different methods to get a brake drum off my truck. What finally worked was the air chisel. The vibration got it to release.

Might have a snap ring keeping it from coming off. Try to drive the yoke on and then take a bar that will fit in the cross and use a good short handled
sledge to drive iy off. Heat will not be your friend as the transfer of heat will wipe out the seal.

If the shaft it's self is what is stuck. I pour some diesel fuel in to let soak in then put a pull tension on each end as it soaks pull a bit more if on the gear box like said look for a snap ring on the end behind the yoke to hold it on when the shear pin shears. After ir ia off the gear box assuming there is no shiel on it heat with the pulling while it has soaked will help.
