beef and dairy

I've been mixing Kelp (seaweed) in with my cattle and goat minerals for years, great source of trace minerals especially Iodine. Also about the best thing that can be used when setting out vegetable plants like tomatoes and peppers gives them a good start.

The sea weed flavor does get into the milk sort of like when the cows get into wild onions. While in the Navy we got some HT milk from the Philippines. It had a fishy taste to it.

The article states that the cows that were fed the seaweed had no detectable difference in the taste of the meat or in the milk produced.

It also said that this is a special type of seaweed and there is not enough of it in the wild. For this to work the seaweed would have to be specially grown.

Not sure why it's surprising they're studying this. Whether the problem is real or not doesn't matter, people are convinced it is. If this can be proven and made feasible, it will be huge for the dairy and beef industry.
