Walk Behind Mower

I looking for a used walk behind mower. Like the kind professionals use. Minimum 36 inches. I looking at a used Lesco in the $600 dollar range. Is that a good unit? What does everyone recommend?

Lesco mowers are pretty heavy duty units. I believe I heard they were made by MTD. Any of the big name mowers would be fine especially if you're just mowing your own lawn with it. I would suggest getting a hydro drive. The power reverse is nice and no belts to slip in wet grass or on hills. The main thing with a hydro would be to run it long enough to get it hot and make sure the drives don't get weak.

I bought this Bobcat new 25ish years ago when I was in the landscape business. My partner kept it when we closed up. He got a new zero turn and I got it back. It needed some loving, but it runs and mows very well.

Steve makes a good point, BUT....these days if you look closely you can find 'regular homeowners and not exclusively grass cutting businesses selling these walk behinds. Oftentimes its the mcmansion owner or the owner of an acreage that wants to move up to a Zeroturn, OR has reached a point in their life when they are finished with grass cutting and have hired it done. I bought a Toro Proline 15hp Kohler late last fall, and while it was too late to put many hours on it, but worked good so far. In my area, $600 gets you a well used one...I would be cautious.

I have a Scag 48 and I love it, Put a bagger on in the fall and pick up all the leaves. I don't think you will find much for $600 the local dealers used ones I have seen are more then that but you might get lucky Keep looking.
