Well, after finding the oil leak last weekend I was starting to get a bit more positive attitude towards the onan project. Got the new sending unit in and the engine back in and no leaks! Finally no leaks. Lol. The sad part was the governor didn't work. No governor at all. So back out with the engine and take it apart again to see what the issue was. I couldn't see anything wrong, no broken or worn parts and everything was free. So back together and fired it up on the bench again. Still no governor. So I left it for a couple days to stew on. Last night I woke up at 2 am thinking about it. I know what's wrong, there is a little pin that sticks into the governor plate and you can't see it when assembling and I know I was missing the hole. But how to get it right. So I looked it up on YouTube and wasn't disappointed, there was a video addressing the problem. The guy explained a simple test to confirm if you have it right before you bolt the cover. So tonight after work I went out again and took it apart and put it together doing the test. Took three tries but I did get it right and sure enough you could hear the dinging of the disc when it was right. Put everything together and put the motor back in for the 27,384th time, plus or minus a few thousand. Lol. Anyway, it runs right now and no leaks. So now I just need to figure out why it doesn't charge and all will be good. I believe the problem is that little box I think they call a rectifier or regulator. I have one in order, so when that gets here hopefully I'll have a completely working skid loader. At least that's the plan.
