Corn Sheller

Anybody know what I need to
do here to get better
shelling? Doesn't look like
any adjustments on the
outside, have to shim
something inside? I believe
its an old IHC, I use it to
shell for chickens

Do you have some sort of city chickens LOL No need to shell it. They will peck it off the cob easily. They will shuck the husks off too.

The top bolt in the first 2 photos is how you adjust it to hold the corn cob over further.
I am rigging this one up to pull with this LB engine to shell my Indian corn for meal and grits.
Just need to make a hub for the V belt pulley.
Low speed on the engine is just about correct with this setup.
FLOLDFORD gave me this engine.

Ok thanks, that piece looks newer on mine, somebody replaced it but it doesn't have the bolt to adjust anymore. I will make something to work and try it , thank you

I have an old hand crank corn sheller that takes 2x through to get the cob clean. First time takes only about half the kernels, after poking it with a piece of pitchfork handle just to get it started through. I have been chalking it up to the corn varieties being so much better now, than 100 years ago. My sheller doesn't have anything to adjust the opening, when it gets ahold of the ear, it just sucks it right in.
I just use it for demonstration at harvest festivals and fairs, and you know how that worked out this year.
