3010 JD fuel problem

I have a 3010 JD Diesel that I have been chasing a running issue for a month now. Fuel pump replaced. Injectors are good. Injector pump gone though and was ok. Tractor starts hard. Will sputter, wants to run. Reves up and dies... I just found that there is return line from the last incector that goes to the fuel tank. At one time of another it was brazed were there what a leak. It is leaking again now. Would this little bit of a leak in the fuel system between the injectors and the fuel tank cause this? I can see if it was from the tank to the injectors. But a return line to the tank?

Thanks for any input

Replace the line. I don't think it's available any more from DEERE, but could easily be made from a length of generic brake line from an auto parts store.

If RESTRICTED from the brazing or other reasons it will cause trouble with the Roosa Master injection pump, they need a free-flowing return system to work properly.

A leak COULD cause fuel drainback when it sits a while and air entry into the fuel system but ONLY if the fuel level in the tank is lower than the injection system.

Does it act any differently with the tank completely full?

Nope. Will not stay running. Local JD mechanic thinks compression issue. But we have he head off. Valves were checked. All good. Head gasket was fine. Pistons look good other than 1 and 2 a oily / wet looking... Just cme across the return line and wondered if it could be that simple after all this other..

Sounds like it might be getting air into the fuel system before the injection pump. Fuel flow is adequate to the pump? Fuel tank clean and drained of water? Fuel filters clean and tight? If the
engine will run and then just die I doubt that it's a mechanical issue with the engine.

"Local JD mechanic thinks compression issue"

TOTAL BS, (did I mention TOTAL B.S.), if it starts then dies you have a fuel system issue.
