i plan on putting a couple 80,000 btu hang from the ceiling forced air heaters in the shop at the farm. they are modine units. shop is 30x60 16 ft ceiling.
what do you use for chimney flashing when the pipe goes thru the roof metal? i was at menards and talked with the lumber guys and they werent sure.
one guy there said run the pipe thru the exterior wall and use a 90 and go up. i dont like the looks of that. btw its an older morton building.

If you use gas rated flue pipe, through a metal roof with no combustibles within 12" I would think it is good to go. Local code drives all decisions, not my opinion. Jim

There are many types of modine heaters. If the heaters are new they might be efficient enough to be a sidewall vent.

They make a roof vent that has a metal base to it. You could just gutter and flashing caulk under it and screw it down with lab screws.

Menards sells what you need. It’s called a “roof jack”. They sell two types. One for a low slope roof and one for a steep roof. Not sure where the change front slope to the other but someone in the HVAC department will know. Either will go on the flat between the ribs. Simply trim if needed and bend to fit. You want the metal to go up the side of the rib. Use quality sealants. Don’t forget the storm collars.
Good luck.
