A friend of mine was looking down from a hill onto a corn field which had what appeared to be a bunch of small "crop circles" in it.
Turns out, they were caused by a black bear (or bears).
Apparently, they go into the corn field, lie down, reach out and pull the stalks in towards themselves while "harvesting" the ears causing a circle of downed corn.
I don't ever recall hearing of that in the past. The black bear population around here has grown a great deal in the past 20 years or so.
