I have a 1994 Telsta bucket truck. It would start from the bucket and when I would release the starter button it would stop running. After several attempts it kept running. When I turned it off the generator starter motor kept running. The only way I could stop it was by disconnecting the wire to the starter motor. The generator is a Onan 1994, 4500 watt single phase 240 volt propane with the pump mounted with an extended shaft. I can't find a model /serial number tag. It is probably hidden under the cover, the manual from the truck description states Onan 4.5 BGD generator. Also when attempting to start it it would klick and not turn over. I would think the solenoid is bad. Thank you in advance Bill

You should find a tag on the blower housing. Something like. B940123456.But I can work with what you have listed. If you can feel the solenoid click. And nothing happens it is most likely bad. Tou can take a volt meter on the starter side. You shave have voltage. On the back of the solenoid. You should find the Onan number. You don't have to use the Onan part. But the part does have to match that number.

Do you think that the solenoid would cause the starter motor to keep running after turning off the generator and stopping the generator after releasing the start button?

If it sticks closed it can. The solenoid has power to one side at all times. The side going to the starter. Should only have power while cranking. The internal contacts can stick at times.Burned from low battery or worn out. I am trying to look up your unit. Just busy with phone calls. The fun never stops. The problem with that version. You have the RV unit and the Bucket truck version. Makes it real fun trying to help

I was told when I retired at 65. I could sit back and relax. Leave all this behind. Well I am 70 and somebody LIED. But it gives me something to do.

Thank you for your help, The truck is not where I live and I won't be back to the truck until Friday. I will try to work on it then. I have you beat by 8 years and don't plan to stop. If you stop doing things like a machine you rust and fall apart. My number is 330-416-3166 if you think of anything else, Bill
