OT 91 Ford F700 Diesel Truck Engine update

The info I provided in the original write up was what I was told. I did a little checking and found the following. It does have an oil cooler BUT it is for tranny oil, not engine oil (Allison a/t). It appears to be getting oil in the water, but I saw no water in the oil. I put batteries on it and hit the starter. It turned part of a round and stopped. I'M thinking hydraulic lock on a cylinder, maybe water on top of a piston. I didn't push it. I know what that can do. Next is to pull the injectors and spin it or maybe even put a wrench on the crank and turn it by hand first. This is making me lean toward blown head gasket or cracked head. Ideas/thoughts.
 
I agree with your analysis. It is the next step. Pull the grain plug on the oil pan till almost out to see if there is any coolant in the oil. Not a good idea to mix it in if it is not mixed now. Cranking it might mix it. Jim
 
In my thinking if coolant is pushed out of one of the cylinder’s injector holes you have only proven where water is getting in the oil. You still don’t know if it is a cracked head or blown gasket or if it entered through a cavitation void in the cylinder wall. If the piston was stopped far enough down in the bore to be below the cavitation spot the coolant will be on top of the piston. I would again recommend purchasing a borescope as an aid to help in diagnosing this. Since it looks like these trucks have a flip front end pulling the head maybe isn’t that bad of a job. I know if it was me and it was a truck with a pickup style hood I would want to make darn sure to the best of my knowledge what the problem was before I stood on my head all that time pulling a head if the whole engine needed to come out anyway. I did not word my update right. I cracked the drain plug until it started dripping and did NOT get any water. I think the bore scope is a good idea. Will update again after I pull the injectors and take a look. Prob put a socket on the crank and ease it over so I can get a complete look at the bore.
