Sickle section questions

Bought new sections at rural king. They were marked down to $1.90 a box. What's the deal with the heavy serrated edges? What are they good for? Bolts didn't pull up at check out. They were free! Guards are $15.90 at tractor supply.... But local stores have them on close out for $5. I have 9 out of 17. 6 more at store 30 minutes south..... I will find them all. Lol.

Will the sections work on haybine too?

all I have ever used in the last 50 years are top serrated sections i bought a box of HD ones to test out,, in my type of hay i see no benefit for them, I cut grass/alfalfa mix hay,, i would only use them if I cut flax though as i think they would last longer,,

I've used a few of the heavy serrated sections. Couldn't tell a difference in how they performed or lasted.
They'll work on your haybine IF the width and bolt hole spacing are right.

Not all section will fit on the same machine. They will have an A or B r some other thing on them and the spacing of the hole is different. I use over serrated section

Keep in mind that most grain binders ran a different configuration blade. Shorter in length, but similar girth. The guards were also shorter and a bit more slender then current guards.

Harvest king is no longer in business. Bomgaars is clearing them out to although not that cheap . Asked the lady if they will be getting more hay equipment parts she didn’t know. Bomgaars does a&i parts so they can get them that way
