diesel mower keeps stalling!

good evening folks, our church has recently bought an older toro groundmaster 220d mower with the Mitsubishi diesel.it runs great when it's running, but then it starts stalling out after about 5 minutes like it runs out of fuel, and won't start for a while, but when it does it has no throttle response at all.so we changed the fuel filter assuming that was the problem, but that did not do it,so we are going to pull the fuel tank and clean it,along with the air filter housing.i am hoping it's junk in the fuel tank, but if it's not, that really only leaves two possibilities, which are injectors and injector pump.so my question is,are we missing something,or are we just looking at the wrong spots?thank you for any and all help.

I forget some important details, that if I crack the injector lines,to bleed the system,it starts to run a lot better but for only a couple minutes, almost like their is air intrusion, but I am not sure.thanks

Pretty common and folks seem to miss it when working on them. I am betting your problem is the RETURN line is restricted causing back pressure. Go to the injector drip line and take that line loose and put into a small container then runt the unit.

Is there a lift pump?

If you suspect it's getting air, temporary clear vinyl hose from the tank to the pump, see if bubbles are coming up.

check the fuel pick up in the tank, bad hose or cracked line will suck air. (Some of the 300 series JD are known for the problem.)

Thank you guys for all the help,i will be sure to check out the return lines and pickup lines.also it has an electric fuel pump.thanks

I had a similar problem with my jD mower. Turned out the fuel lines had hardened and were allowing air to get sucked into the lines, new rubber lines everythings good.
