I got shipped south to help keep up machinery for the wheat harvest. Spending a couple weeks in Vernon, TX. A few custom cutters have gotten started, but the wheat was still a bit wet, and it’s been raining. The forecast doesn’t look good for the next week either. On the plus side, it only been over 100F one day so far.

I did that back in the late 80's 90's one guy had 3 Massey's next guy had 6 9600's and 2 8820's. Then third guy had 3 9600's. I've got lots of pictures.

That the one job I actually miss at times. I did it for two summers when I was 19 and 20. We started in Tye, Tx and ended up in Chugwater Wy. Good times.

I always loved the Moline Daily Dispatch newspaper.(not really) Some custom harvester would come into town and pick up 2-3 Deere combines and drive them across the I-74 Mississippi River bridge. The Dispatch would put 3-4 pages of pictures, operator and owner interviews, even the local TV stations would have 5 minute reports on the combine Convoy. But if somebody came in and picked up a dozen red combines they couldn't be bothered. And the green combines had to drive right past the Red combine plant, only a mile apart.
To say the town and the media were/are biased was/is an understatement.

Good pictures--Thanks-but no green ones!--We are loaded up and ready to go--just give us a location and we will be there in a day!---Tee

We are a couple hundred miles south of there. Friday ours was still too green at 15.5%, but quite a bit has been cut around us. We had 2-1/2" rain last night. Tony

I hope everything goes well for you. I always wanted to do that. First I was too young to go with my brother and his crew and now I'm too old! Oh well.

I am here for 2 weeks. I will be back out for a couple more weeks later in the summer.

I am also too old to last all summer out here.

This winter took my harvest slides from 79 and 80 and made a video

A big thank you and salute to all active military and veterans!!

So how old is too old? I'm quite old and was thinking of going to help FARM RESCUE out of North Dakota but I think the virus has stopped their plans.

You must work for Macdon with all the different color combines. Probably been to our place to work on our guy’s machines even

That would be a common denominator.

Possibly been there, if not I’m sure one of the crews will catch up with them at some point.

Stephens is our crew. Out of KS. Coby I believe. Runs John Deere machines. Interesting side note, he’s the on,y one in this part of the county with green machines. All the other guys are red now except the crew with the Gleaners.
