Heavy tillage yesterday

Well, as heavy as it gets for a one acre garden. We have heavy clay that really gets hard. Usually before I plant I go over it with a Harley rock rake to make a seed bed but this packs the ground more than I like - especially for the potatoes. So, I'm experimenting with an aluminum truck frame pulled behind the cultivator - channel with legs up. Once it's full of dirt for weight it does a pretty good job leaving a level and loose seed bed.

Looks like my ground, red clay. When's it's dry the ground is so hard a shovel will not go in. My garden area has a lot of compost added in the past years it is very soft now. Stan
