I have come to appreciate the 2 items pointed out as my 2 most important repair tools.

Ah, yes!!! The seat being the most important thing!!!
Last couple years I was working, I had a magnet on a stick to pick up
the things under machinery, so I didn't have to crawl underneath things.
And I had 5 gallon buckets scatter all over the shop for seats.
One day a guy threw out my buckets. I made him go dig them out of the dumpster!!

I've worn out more than one office chair. Don't use it much for machinery work, but all the time for welding. When I had my shop I had one with a foot rest for the Tig peddle. Used that most of all. Had a rest out front for the peddle and a tail out back to hold the cables so they stayed out of the wheels. Would sit in the chair and roll around the projects welding them up, especially for trailers.

I have 3 different heights of buckets, depending on how high or low I want to sit for the project at hand. Also have kneeling pads (old tractor seat pads) if I just absolutely MUST get down lower.

Good idea on the grabber- will take the one in the house out to the shop, and plead insanity when inquiries are made about it by SWMBO.

Others about buckets. Here at work they have those white ones all over the place. The other colors are the 5 gallon buckets that hydraulic oil comes in. Be VERY careful with those white ones. They don't have any UV protective quality to them. If they get exposed from UV "Florescent lights" and sun light they will have a sudden collapse when you least expect it. Had one collapse about two weeks ago. The red ones will stand up for several seasons but even they crunch sooner or later. Just don't like the seat giving way. Don't stand on them!!!!

The creeper chair is used a lot in my shop especially since the new knee isn't quite up to snuff yet. I forget where I got the extendable magnet but it is the strongest magnet I have seen for it's size. It works best in open spaces because in tight places it will suck itself up to any steel within three inches away.

I got a stout extendable magnet from sears.will p9ck up a blue point 1 3/4" combination wrench, mechanical fingers and a homemade big wheel rollable seat.under my seat is a round tray handy to put tools parts n bolts in.we age,we learn how to make our jobs easier.
When i work on stuff in yard or field i got a big magnet on a rope, its out of 1 of the magnetic feeders i had when i milked. A gadget that cost lots but didnt work. Thank you delaval for that $5500 P.O.S.

I have several old plastic milk crates scattered in my garages and back porch. Good height for me to work on many things. (I keep them indoors, not sure if sunlight might degrade the plastic.)
