Jeffcat, I thought you might know about a couple GG1 electric locomotives that were moved from a siding in Oneonta N. Y. a few years ago. Two more are still sitting on a siding and I drove by them today. The talk about the electric tractor brought back the memory of the GG1?s heading to a museum for restoration.

Well as of about five years ago I know they were there . The location is Cooperstown junction. Just south of Maryland,NY. If you look in the first picture the arrow points to a pretty old MACK crane truck. The second picture just a little to the west there is a bunch of old stuff parked on the tracks in the bushes. I have no idea what is hidden there but it just might be big enough that those are the two of them. The third shot shows what was going to be a tourist ride from Cooperstown to the junction and far as I know never panned out. They had that passing track plugged up for years and I would guess CN told them to move them. That track used to be many years ago all the way up to Cooperstown. One reason they retired was the powerwas changed and they had stress cracks in their frames. Or so i

reason the GG1 were retired was the mainline overhead power was changed. Jumped it up quite a bit. Not worth retrofitting the GG1s They also had stress cracks in their frames from what I have read.

Finally got google pictures working. They even paved the tracks over. The street view car didn't drive up the other road so I can't look into the bushes. By the way.. that was the mainline of the Delaware and Hudson years ago.

Reread your question. Can you zero in on them. The information I could find might be old news. Please follow up.

Jeffcat, I am only about twenty minutes from where they sit. I almost stopped to get a picture and I did take a picture of the crane truck last year. There is a train ride right now that goes from Milford to Cooperstown that isn?t to far. After posting last night I did find out the Henry Ford Museum has the 2 from a few years ago. I got to go milk some cows be back about 9:00.

Old H model mack, they were sharp . Waylon jennings had 1 redone to haul his band equipment.last i knew it was rotting down in a scrapyard in texas. Somebody was talking of restoring it

There are a couple passenger cars up the line from that little house. Last year one of them got away - rolled right past the house, across the road and tipped over. It had been sitting there for years and never went anywhere

Jeffcat , That?s Route 7 they are just around the corner. I was sure there are 2 still on the siding. That road goes from Cooperstown junction to Portlandville.
