a harmonic balancer is when the front pully on the engine is rubber mounted to reduce vibration. quit sure that engine don't have that. look and see , u have the tractors.

I guess to satisfy my curiosity I will have to call the seller and see why he thinks it's a harmonic balancer.... .....

he might be familiar with the newer engines that have them and not know old stuff don't use them, so just calls it that.

A wobbly front pulley can be very bad news if it was run loose until the end of the crankshaft was wallowed to a taper.

Even a new/good pulley won't stay tight then.

Only way to fix it is a different crank, or pull that one and have it welded up and turned back to size.

You are right. I had a D7 Cat and one day working under the machine, I noticed that the front pulley moved when I touched it. I started looking for a salvage buyer and lost a lotta$$$$$ , but was glad to see it loaded to go away.

I have/had them on cars and trucks and know where to look for them (as stated by others) but can't find one on any of my Ford tractors, 4 cyl 2000 thru 3910.
