(quoted from post at 19:20:21 03/31/19) GM Vortec 8100 big block, 8.1L = 496 cubic inch

BINGO. I have a 2001 K3500 Chevy. 8.1. Sticker somewhere on that engine identifies it as 496 cubic inches.

There is an outfit called "SPI" that has apparently bought the 8.1. it is now an 8.8 and they are marketing it for/to Natural Gas users.

As everyone else says, big block Chevy. Either 8100, or may be a 454 if from a medium duty. The medium duty 454 used coil packs like that in the 6500 up series for 2-3 years before the 8100 came out. Which ever size it is, it is basically a boat anchor, modern LS can make more power at 1/3 the weight. If it is an 8100, it is all but useless for anything outside of its intended application, there is almost no parts interchange between the 454 and the 8100. The 8100 only looks like a big block, actually only shares bore spacing and bell housing, nothing else.

The later picture is a 54-58 Mopar Hemi. Distributor on the back of the engine. Not sure which series it is. Dodge, DeSoto or Chrysler.
