We had a Simplicity walk behind sickle bar mower on the family farm that got away from me somehow. Been searching for the past several years for one or similar. Anyone have an old one they are willing to sell? I live in Colorado 80863. thank you!

I have an old JARI brand mower. I'd take $200 for it; I'm in Colorado,also---81401 Zip.

Was that on a 2 wheel garden tractor? I think Simplicity made them for Wards and I have one I think among all other items I have that are probably going to scrap shortly. But I am in Ohio.

Have you used one of these ?

We had this mower - about 65 years ago. It looked a lot better than it worked.
Biggest problem was non-uniformity of weeds/grass - would not "flow" over the cutterbar
like a field mower would do in alfalfa. Cut material would bunch on the cutterbar.

The drive mechanism was not shielded where it attached to the knife. This was a magnet
for residue to become entangled.

I would take MJ up on his offer......Jari's are built to last forever.
They still make them....very expensive.
The old ones are a bit crude and have no reverse but they cut really well!

I used a Jari fifty years ago when working for a landscaper. Grass tended to fall onto the drive and clog it. I added a piece of heavy wire from the sickle bar to half way up the handles. It oscillated back and forth, clearing the drive.

I had a Troy Bilt for a few years, sold it this fall. It was good in some ways but didn't have reverse or much pulling power. This summer I bought a package deal of 5 Gravely L
walk behind tractors that includes a sickle bar mower and I am planning to get it working this winter. The Gravely has reverse, two speeds and a lot more traction and power,
but the sickle setup needs a little work. I have heard that the Jari mowers are nice but never got to try one.

Where at in ohio, we are coming up in December, do you have any pictures. I am interested in the wards walk behind.

No pictures. Several different ones. Wapakoneta where things are but now living in St Marys. Farm is going into forclosure so every thing has to go.

Please send details of farm location and dates for any auction. If you have any additional details I'd love to know about it/them! Thanks! Kerry

Very good! Thanks for the response. I'm looking your zip up now.
I'm VERY interested. My Christmas present. Is the the best way co connect with you?
Kerry

Got you located. Can you send me details of it's condition? Photos? I'm in Woodland Park 80863, any chance of meeting in Salida? Thanks!

On the Gravely, go over that sickle bar and drive real good. The wear tip absolutely needs a grade 8 bolt and Loc-tite or it will get loose and go missing and those were over $40.00 each 25 years ago. Run it slower, rather than faster. They shake themselves apart if you try to go run the engine too fast.

Please contact me about your Jari. I've been trying to connect with you but not sure I know how to work this forum at all. I have sent and e-mail and a couple "quote" and "reply" messages and hit "submit"
