Well learned about oil bath air cleaners today

I "am" planning to build a paper element conversion kit for my HM44 EFI, but just have not got around to it yet, but have tore all the mesh out. Well, I had to drive on gravel today due to a bridge out, so I filled it up with oil. It carried over a lot of oil at full throttle and load until it got the level sucked down some. Guess, I have to clean the whole thing out now before converting.

So oil bath air cleaners don't like fuel injection? Or fuel injection doesn't like oil bath oil cleaners?

o mesh???!

The mesh is where the oil separates from the air. No mesh, droplets of oil go to the intake. reality is a harsh taskmaster. Jim

Yup, found that out.

I thought it was over fueling, then smelled the exhaust, it was not gasoline.
