Got Some Hayin' Done

Swathed a 14 acre field of grass planted for horse hay. The hay was short due to the extremely low rainfall we have had this year, but still produced fairly well. I ended up with 16 round bales and 44 small squares. Swathed it Tuesday night and started baling at 5:00 yesterday afternoon. I put the little G430 Case to work with a rake to put 2 windrows together.
My 8 acre brome field about 6 miles away, on the other hand, caught a couple of showers and produced 30 rounds. That was the most ever from that field. A few pics of the brome and yesterdays events.

We have the opposite problem here in MN, it rains every day, sometimes twice a day. I cut a small piece the other day just because I am out of hay, well as I was square baling it we got a downpour of 3/4 inch. I was dropping them on the ground so nothing to do but watch it get ruined. They are now calling for a nice stretch so I am gonna cut my big field this weekend and hope for the best. Stuff is as high as the rear tractor tire, haven't been able to cut this year . Never seen it go so late in my years of haying.

It's really something, all the non stop rain.

I think you will just hear a buzz of balers running in 3 days for thousands of acres if this forecast holds up.

Some of us have to chose between baling and spraying beans, I might need to choose the beans......

Same here, started first cutting today. Only the second time ever this late, 1993 was the first.

One good point, the pheasants and ducks were able to hatch and move out of the way.

Paul, it's easier for me to hire someone to do a good job spraying beans then it is to hire someone to do a good job putting up hay. So I hired Co-op to spray and I knocked down 20 acres of hay.
