Last time I was out turning windrows of hay with the
930, I felt like a fried egg must feel time I was done.
Bought this sun shade for $210. Fooled around
about 45 minuets putting it on this morning. Now I
am out turning hay 85 F , and feel fair comfortable.
here?s hoping those clouds and this heat don?t bring
on a thunderstorm. Bruce

That is nice I?ve been debating putting em on my tractors . I wonder if they would have any value in the winter keeping wind off?

Looks like the right tractor tires are running right on the windrow, but that's not likely. Probably angle of camera makes it look that way.

Yep, nice. I also got shade on both my tractors. Absolutely money well spent. No way I'd farm hay without after enjoying shade

It's worth it. In my younger years I didn't believe in one. I ended up getting so hot hauling hay once I almost passed out and wrecked my tractor. I've been to hot enough times now I can't seem to stand the heat nowhere like I used to. I get almost instant migraines. I take mine off in the winter. That's the time of year you want the sun to shine on you.

I much prefer that type to the single post umbrella type. My wife got me an umbrella type and it works okay, but I can't keep it in one spot no matter how tight I tighten it or how many hay twine guy wires I run. Just the nature of the beast I guess.

I have had a single post umbrella on my JD swather
for a few years, and it gave me the same kind of
problems. Bobing up and down, spinning off to one
side, and turning inside out in strong winds. I ended
up braiding bale strings into rope for tying all four
corners, that helped a lot. Here is an old picture of
the umbrella when it was still new, and not yet tied
down.

SVcummins: Any sun shade or canopy by there selves, will make it colder in the winter. There is about always a breeze under them. I had a Duetz-Alis 6275 that came from the factory with a canopy top. The first fall I drilled wheat I stop and took the time to unbolt it and store it for winter. Now I have two JD 4020s that have the factory roll guard and steel canopy. I have the Front window glass and side curtains for them and the top makes it almost like a heated cab inside. Even a wind directly in the back still kind of goes around.

There is a short line supplie company called Farm Fleet. Local New Holland Dealer gets there stuff in. Farm fleet offers a wide range of items from things like this shade , to small equipment like mowers, disc and cultivation tools. Probably find them online

Gemplers shows them from $57 to $167...see link. One possible issue is they are all yellow. If I would have known they were that cheap when I was a kid and the old man put me out on cabless tractors in the hot Kansas sun, I would have lobbied him to install one.

Put a sun shade on my tractor one summer. When winter come put on the heater house and left the sun shade on. Taking a big bale down a dirt road it sucked the dirt right up where I was. Took the sun shade off.

They are out there....just run the subject on the www. I bought a couple for 2 Fords (narrow ones, forget the dimensions....46-48 range) in blue. Yellow is usually there if any color JD so you shouldn't have a problem......Both widths are available. Wide is like 52 as I recall. I have been using the Tuff Top for tractors/mowers with a (2x2, 2x3) ROPS bar. They come in right at $200 for the 48 wide and I buy the 52 under $250. They are www available also. I bought a newer Ford recently and the ROPS was too big so I made a 2x2 bracket, attached it to the rops and put the TT on that.

I ran the single post umbrellas for years, both the type with a strait mounting stick, the offeset mounting stick and also the type that hangs from the top on an offset mount and never had a problem like that. I have also used them with a heat houser in winter just setting them directly on top of the windshield with no problen there either.

You had either a bad post or bad mounting bracket as that is not normal, ran them for years with no problems.

For those wanting a do it yourself canopy.................
Go visit your local golf cart customizer and pick up a golf cart roof.
They go for $20 bucks down here.
