late model G john deere

Fuel tank cap was red. Radiator cap was green.
All of the G model tractors were all fuel.

The Model 70 could be gas or diesel.

=================================

My father owned a 1952 G and I seem to remember both caps being green. Also seems like red fuel caps came later after government regulations started making so many safety changes in the ag world. By the way, that G was the worst tractor we ever owned...broke down so much I told dad that thing would break down in the shed at night. Burned over 5 gallons of gas per hour while pulling a 3-14" plow. I still get the shivers when I see one those beasts! An SMTA replaced it, what a great ride that was...smooth and power to burn.

I agree, gas hog and gutless! I have a '50 G & a '52 A & the A will eat it alive. Pullers
that use the G have deep pockets....takes $$ to make it pull like a stock single stick A.

I don't think the red came out untill way later in the 60's with the new generation. And older was either a replacement cap or repainted. Orignal 46 B and 49 B were green
