Ford SOS Trans repair manual(s)

I know there are a number of members here that are knowledgeable about the repair of the SOS. I'd like to examine the internals of the trans by obtaining a repair manual to peruse before I start turning wrenches.

IF you were to buy a manual which one or ones would you buy or download? Why?

Thanks
Jim

The genuine Ford Service Manual 1954 - 1964, tractor series 600, 700, 800, 900, 501, 601, 701, 801, 901, 1801, 200, and 4000 (manual 40060090) does a real nice job covering the SOS. Below is a YT thread from way back in 2004 answering the same question. Of course assuming your tractor falls within the given range of models.

The I and S manuals available on a rack in your Ford NH dealership is an excellent reference. Most of the entire manual is on the tranny. I think the manual is either 21 or 41 that covers the 2000 and 4000 early designs with the 4 cylinder engine. There is another series that covers the 3 cyl engines 2000 thru 4000. Not sure that covers the SOS.

2X Leroy Prinz. He really knows them and he rebuilds them or you can just get components. He keeps rebuilt control valves on hand.

I and T, not I and S correction on manual name. Sorry about that. As usual just remember half of what I attempted to remember.
