Starting At Minus 22

Haven't seen anyone covering the rad on pickups and cars yet this year. Coldest we've had is -21F. -37 is cold in Celsius or Fahrenheit. s -40 is the same on both scales. But you have a "dry cold" right,so it's not so bad , lol.

Several decades ago, my brother had a '66 Bronco with the 170 c.i. six cylinder and a couple of fuel injected cars, circa late-80s. We hit about -25? and the fuel injected cars wouldn't start. His trusty Bronco, with manual choke, fired right off. He took his wife to work and it was the only vehicle on his place that was driveble.
A few days ago, I changed oil in one of my vehicles and put in new 5W-30 oil in it that I pulled right off the back of my pickup that had been sitting outside at -15?. That oil poured surprisingly slow. Flowable oil and battery capacity are two things needed when it gets cold.

Bruce, you talk about "dry cold", that's what kills me here in south eastern VA. This morning it's 22, humidity at 44% makes it a wind chill of 12 degrees. One forecast for Friday has a low of six degrees, luckily I don't go wotk until noon!

"dry cold" kinda goes together. If there was any moister in the air it would be what we call "frost smoke". Thank the Lord there is no wind.

-30F to start the day in central MN. Dewpoint at -36 and humidity at 67%. At least not much wind at the moment, but there is a windchill warning posted for the day. Windy will likely pick up as the day goes on.

Saw a video last night about a guy dumping a pot of boiling water when it was -34 outside and hurricane-force winds. He was dumping from about chest level. Not a single drop made it as far as his stomach; instead, just instantly turned into this huge cloud of fog/snow. I think that was on AccuWeather website, but Youtube will have some similar as well.

I saw that effect watching a guy from Alberta flinging a cup of hot water into the air and it turned to vapour. Claimed it was colder there than at the North Pole. Then he went and started his old 1960 Frontenac.
