We run a big pumpkin patch, and after many customer requests, we have finally purchased (Dirt cheap Luckily), a used wheel chair lift for one of our pumpkin patch wagons. We installed a battery on the wagon to run the unit, but need to keep it charged from the tractor. All of our tractors we wire with a power plug in the rear for electric valves and lights on implements, but they are not intended for 40-50amps...
The question I have is...
How can we wire from the tractor -to charge the battery on the wagon, without a major draw through the wire every time the hydraulic unit is cycled? In other words, I only want to draw from the wagon battery to run hydraulic unit, and charge from tractor.
I have seen some battery disconects that tie into ignition, but i dont plan on shutting down every time we cycle the unit.
Is there a device for trailers, such as trailers with hydraulic dump, to limit amount of current from lead battery?
Thanks for any ideas..
