I am looking to add a 2 5/16th inch trailer ball to my Farmall 756 horseshoe shaped draw bar so I can move my equipment trailer around the yard. I do not have the draw bar extension that bolts to the draw bar. The holes on the draw bar look to be 5/8 inch...but, my ball has a 1 1/4 inch shank. I called a local tractor salvage yard, who has an extension for $15. He wasn't sure of the hole size and that the hole was egged out a bit. What have you guys done to add a trailer hitch ball? I don't have the large drill bits or a torch to make big holes in metal.

you could open the hole on the extension with a carbide burr on an air grinder, but it will take a little while to hog one out. or , stop over at farm and fleet in the trailer hitch section and look for the receiver hitch adapter for a step bumper. you could bolt that to the drawbar, the use the trailer ball drawbar on the receiver. heres one from harbor freight

Take a stack of 4 fender washers (called that) that are 7/8 of an inch in outer diameter put a bolt through them and through the hole in the plate you have. Put an additional fender washer under the bottom and a nut. Tighten so the bolt is as far forward in the plate as possible. Take it to a muffler shop, or repair shop and tell them to use the washers as a guide to cut the new hole. Should be dirt cheap as they do not need to figure the path. The 7/8 allows for the kerf of the cut, and the oxyged jet offset from the washer. Jim
I decided to go the Harbor Freight step bumper receiver hitch adapter. With a 20% off coupon, it was about $18. The trailer ball that I returned was about $14...so about a wash. I came home tonight and bolted it right on...the holes lined up perfectly. Thank you for your ideas.
