(quoted from post at 17:27:04 08/20/17) Nobody ever heard of a Tesla until Elon Musk decided to go into the car business.
Back at the turn of the last century, around 1901 to 1905, many cars of that era were electric. There were also a few steam powered cars. Each had good points as well as bad points.
The whole idea of an electric car has to overcome the problem of battery technology. To this day, we have not improved much over the batteries that they used in a 1901 Studebaker.
The problems that need to be solved are operating range, charging times, and battery life. Unless there is a major breakthrough in battery technology, electric cars will remain basically a novelty plaything- and in the case of a Tesla, a very expensive plaything. For long distance travel and operating range, you still have a long way to go to beat the internal combustion engine.
Comparing a Chevy Volt to a Tesla is like comparing an 8N Ford to a new Fendt tractor.
ecause all the nat gas, solar, wind, hydro, and nuke power is used for other purposes and only coal power is used to charge electric cars!(quoted from post at 14:45:19 08/20/17) Why do you think electric cars are coal powered with only about 1/3 of electricity generated using coal ??
