OT Sprayed Clover in the Lawn Today

Here's a few pictures of my little spray rig I've had for years. Just use it to spray 2-4-D on the lawn twice a year. I just got around to spraying the front lawn this morning. Did the other lawns a month ago. I built this sprayer over 30yrs ago. The wheel horse I have about $50 stuck in it after trading and selling parts of another one. The sprayer frame comes off the running gear and can be loaded into the bed of a pickup truck or I've even used it on my 3pt carrier to spray pastures and fence rows. I incorporated an electric valve for the rear nozzle. The control is wired into a trailer plug so when it's in a truck you can use the parking light switch to turn the boom off and on. I have the same on the wheel horse. Works great this way.

Nice looking yard.

When it comes to using chemicals on my lawn, I always think what I put on the ground might get in my well. I hate the smell of 24d. Not sure how safe it is to drink.

If my yard didn't have clover it would be just dirt. What's wrong with clover any how, it green? From 30 feet or 30 mph who cares? Don't fertilize either. Grass just grows faster and I have to mow it more often. That doesn't sound like fun to me.

That's a nice looking yard. What kind of grass is that? My Bermuda didn't make it and I need a cool season replacement. Clover would take over my yard if I didn't spray it to keep it in check.

Geo - I agree with your thoughts 100%. Also want to add that killing clover also does contribute to the decline and demise of honeybees. The pollinators that are essential to a natural, biological cycle. Unfortunately, most people don't care about that.

I understand people in urban areas trying to get rid of clover for reasons of vanity so they have the nicest yard on the block. A farmer doing it is sort of counterproductive if they have field crops and desire bees for pollination. I also agree with Geo, green is green.

My neighbors have a well manicured lawn. They wanted to spray the weeds in my yard. I told them no because I like watching the bees forage in the clover. I think they had an anurism trying to figure out why someone would want weeds.

mine is never sprayed, dandelions, dutch white are very welcome, along with every other thing that flowers. Gotta be careful you don't step on a honey or bumble bee in my yard.

Good greef, As said below, I would have no green lawn in August, if it wasn't for my white clover which roots down and finds water. The 2A field that I mow across the road is all weeds from indian paint brush to wild strawberries, and dandylions except where there is moisture for grass. Green is green as far as I'm conserned.

I was in the no fertilizer, no herbicide camp for about 15 years until I saw that the weeds and moss were pretty well taking over. Especially that awful creeping Charlie. I started spraying and Fertilizing about five years ago and my lawn is just starting now to turn the corner and grass is back to about even with the weeds and moss. Once you let the stuff takeover it s a struggle to get the grass back.
