local radio station this morning reported average person spends 12 weeks a year looking for things they can't find.
also explains why i'm always tired

I spend more time than that looking. ...My wife likes to "help" me by rearranging things the way SHE can find it. Then we both forget and eventually we just give up looking and buy it again. *lol*

Sounds like some people have too much stuff if it takes that long to find it. My motto of course,if it's laying in the middle of the floor so I trip over it,I know where it is.

If you lose something and really want to find it just go and buy another one. When you get home it will be on your workbench in plain sight. I have duplicates and triplicates of several tools that I lost and searched for extensively.

SWMBO does the same thing, makes me wish I could lock her out of the shop. She'll use something, then put it back where she thinks it should go, not where she got it from.

I suspect that number is really low for people like us.

There are a lot of people averaged in there that don't own more than a hand full of tools, never go anywhere near a work shop, never do any of their own repairs.

Their lost items consist of keys, socks, I pads, and check books!

12 weeks/year = 84 days lost annually while looking for things.
Every year I lose at least that much time fixing mistakes.
These total up to losing 168 productive days annually.
I have weekends to get things done - 104 days/year.
Optimistically, I won't get even half of these days to myself.
Round it off to a maximum of 50 days a year to get things done.
50 days for progress vs. 168 days going backwards.
This explains why I complete 1/3 of my projects.

I JUST GO BUY A NEW ONE. I WILL TRIP OVER THE LOST ONE WHEN I GET HOME WITH THE NEW ONE I JUST BOUGHT.
SAVES TIME LOOKING.

The reason you and most other posters spend so much time looking for things is because you go about it bassakkerds, Without a doubt you fine them at the last place you looked for them. I am going to start looking at the last place first and save a lotta time

I just spent an hour looking for a new Spray Gun still in the box. Searched the shop then search the yard because the dog steals things of the bench and nothing. then walked over to the work bench and there on the shelf in plain site it sate.
That is the frustrating part finding it right in front of you.

I tried that one time. ...I got lost! :-/

Can't find mine, go to town and buy another, get home use it and now I am going to put it where I can remember I put it. I'll be d^mn there is the one I was looking for.
