I am looking for info on a New Holland 5640 SLE hydraulic capacity. My research tells me that it has closed center hydraulics & a wet clutch with 16 speed transmission. A major use for this tractor would be running a hydraulic motor as well as PTO.
Just wondering if the hydraulics would be close to what a JD 6110 puts out?
Any other known issues with this series of tractor.
Doesn't seem to be many SLE around, makes it hard to know if they are reliable.
 
Depends on area, all sle here, never seen a lower trim in
person. White roof are early and had some wiring issues on
transmission. Also some spline issues on mfwd input shaft.

Always get a readout of the computer setting for clutch wear /
it's expensive to rebuild these.

Engine is rock solid, maintained 15,000 hours is common.
 

2X what Ken said. I had an 8240 SLE MFWA white roof for ten years. It was eight years old when I got it with 4200 hours. After eight more years at around 5200 hours the hydraulic pump went out. The pump alone was $5300.00. The next year a seal went in the transmission. $1200 for a rebuild. The next year I sold it.
 
This tractor has been for sale for a while - now I know why.
It's a 2 wheel drive with no cab & a jockey has it for sale.
Has been for sale for a couple of years.
I think I'll keep my distance.
 

I've driven 3 SLE tractors, I didn't like the transmission myself, but it was the deluxe trans, S was the 8x2 crash box and SL was the 12x12 syncro with dual power option
 
SLE moved about 20 gpm on the main system pump with electronic link sensing. Transmission could be a 16x16, kind of like a power quad or a
24x24 which was the 12 speed syncro fitted with dual power and a wet reverser.
For the most part they were a pretty decent tractor.
Hydraulic or transmission problems on any of them with those features will be time consuming and expensive to fix. I would own the FOrd over
a Deere.... but I'm a Ford guy.
